Here the rust from that radcap pipe has all but gone but the surface corrosion it left behind remains. I'm not sure wether this will do... The black paint coating the inside of the pipe that I guess acted as a first line defence against rust has mostly gone leaving behind a bare metal surface. I'm wondering if i should spray it with some kind of suitable paint or if this will not be a problem now that I will be using coolant rather than water.





Ouch. A couple of pin sized holes. I dont have a welder. All ive got to give it is some soldering. Going to go get some solder and give it a shot.

Dont risk the solder, its not worth risking and that rad cap seat looks way too far gone. Contact Woody see if he has one in his Aladins Cave. Must try that methid of removing rust, some good results....but what was underneath unfortunately not so good.

Well done Al. Excellent job you have done done there. Solder as in Blow Torch and flux? The metal will have to be absolutely spotless and bright and shiny for it to work and don't apply too much heat if the neck is soldered to the pipe.

. With that rust and paper lace you have got your work cut out. I have use Super Steel two pack, inside and outside the filler neck with good success in the past, by Spastic Pudding. You can file and sand it to shape fairly easily too.

Hmm scrap my attempts to try keep this little pipe alive? You have a point. Well I already shineyed out the holes and gave it a solder - some flux with a soldering iron. But then I don't know much about metal and wether the soldered flux will hold out under pressure in the same way a welders job would? That super steel two pack sounds good.

I've given up the gun with this one. New holes appeared in vulnerable places after giving it a little sand and a go with the reseating tool. Thanks for the link Raggy and Woodie ive pm'd you regarding the replacement you may have (fingers crossed).

I can't get over to the garage tomorrow Al but I will go over Monday afternoon and retrieve it. Hopefully it is better than yours. I know I have only got the one left so keep everything crossed.
