Tool of the week, had to replace the manifold on the SLK as usual, the one bolt that's a bassa to get to rounds off, no way is the spanner getting it, no way to get a socket on. What to do?


Plasma cutter!!!!!!!!

It looks like you've taken a big hammer to a cast manifold.

It's actually quite an odd setup, double skinned tubular, never seen the likes of it before?

I had a SIP Plasma Cutter when the first came out and what a wonderful tool.
it packed in after about five years and oh boy do I miss it. So many different uses. Only downside was the number of nozzles and tips and shrouds it ate.
Time I bought a new one I think.

Quite a lot of exhaust systems these days use two pipes - - one inside the other as it makes for a quieter exhaust system.

But I haven't seen double tubular headers before.
