can anybody identify this? (on 1.2 diesel pickup)
Hello,
Rather than clog up my project thread, I thought I'd keep the questions separate.
gave the pickup a once over and found this
pickup by johnnyboy666, on Flickr
which appeared to be loose. I'm pretty damn sure it ain't supposed to be!!
Now im just trying to figure out what it is! I would say it looks a bit like a pressure regulator or something along those lines, and its fairly oily around there, but I'm not sure if its coming from this or the oil hose nearby.
its got a nut on it to tighten it, and a little washer under the nut presumably to seal it, but the washer is deformed causing this to be loose enough to slide up and down the pipe i'm pointing to in the photo
If its not clear, this is the drivers side rear of the engine, quite low down
thanks in advance!
John

I think it might be this:
Crankcase vacuum regulator valve
The vacuum relief valve is an engine safety device.
Its function is that of limiting the vacuum whenever it tends to
increase.
Without this, should the air filter be clogged, the oil contained in the
carter may be sucked back into intake manifold causing the
condition for engine runaway.
