M.O.T PASSED
Well the old van passed but not without some Pre work
front brake calipers stripped pins and sliders buffed up 9a battle)
new pads front brake pipe changed (another battle) rears cleaned,4 tyres
only needed 2 but what the hell, door hinge changed (thanks HJ)
so now another year becons
advisory---slight rust on underside
I wonder what they expect on a 1993 van!!

Re: M.O.T PASSED

But it's too late now

Re: M.O.T PASSED
HJ tried the hydraulic trick, had to use heat
mole grips and brute force to win the buggers

I use the hydraulic power of the brake pedal, but with the engine running so you've got the brake booster helping, and literally stand on the brake pedal.
Then I hit on the calliper housing with a hammer and the shock plus the applied pressure makes them let go.
Well done on the MOT!!
Re: M.O.T PASSED
Must say i find the calipers on the Jet shittyer than most for seizing, spent a good bit of time stripping and cleaning mine, tho.as my van has lived by the seaside this may explain it?
I made a wee tool out of a brake banjo bopt and a metal tyre valve, brill thing for removing stuck pistons( admittedly a wee bitty dangerous when they pop, always cover with a cloth) but makes life much easier( no help wi the pins tho)

Thanks Logie, one of the pins had to be cut off
and the drilled out!.Cleaning the sliders I put
a long bolt through them clamp whats left of
the bolt into the pedestal drill spin her up
and use fine emery makes a good job of them

Re: M.O.T PASSED
My mate showed me avery easy way to get the pins out, after I had snapped off all but half inch of the pin.
DON'T clamp the caliper in a vice and get a pair of mole grips or similar on the pin.
Clamp the pin in the vice and gently rock the caliper.
It worked instantly
