Xmas Driving
WTF is it around Xmas, peoples driving seems worse than usual? Got a lovely wee mark on the bumper of the Jag due to someone punting the car behind into me at traffic lights.
Worse than that, if I make a claim they'll write off the Jag, cos its worth fuck all. Then I'm left with a new task of finding another one, stripping out the stereo and the parrot I recently fitted.
Pissed off.

Re: Xmas Driving
ive known people buy back the vehicle from the insurance company at a very low price, i had one insurance company pay me for a written off car and left me with it to deal with cos they coulnt be bothered to come collect it!

Re: Xmas Driving
You can sometimes buy it back from the insurance company, but some are linked direct to the salvage companies. So you have to buy it back from them. Category 'D' write offs (Light damage beyond economical repair) are not registered on the insurance computer. Category 'C' (Medium damage) have to be cleared with VOSA to get it cleared off the write off register.
I think that's right?

Or see if the twat who caused it wants to pay for the damage out of his pocket.

Sadly the said twat lives in a rather sunny part of Kilmarnock, did you see "The Scheme" https://youtu.be/Xan2xU-ZFic , no much hope there..leopard_pagan wrote:Or see if the twat who caused it wants to pay for the damage out of his pocket.
Trouble is his insurance will be paying for the wee woman's car so no incentive to shell out.

Just claim mate, you could put in for whiplash etc while your at it, and if you get reasonable quotes to fix the car then I'm sure they will pay you just that.
Re: Xmas Driving
To claim I have to pay my excess before I can get it back. Can't afford to be £600 out of pocket over Xmas, plus then I have to go through it for the next 5 bloody years with all 7 vehicles when the insurance is due. Not worth the hassle, the bumper was going to be replaced at some point anyway cos the chrome trim was goosed, had it been someone at fault running into the back of me i'd have mentioned not going through the insurance

Re: Xmas Driving
You should be claiming of the person that hit you, not your own insurance. So excess has nothing to do with it.
The personal injury claim would be worth at least £2.5k

Yeah, but I don't have whiplash, can't be fucked with the claim culture.

Re: Xmas Driving
And I don't agree that our insurance cost has anything to do the odd claim.
The crash4cash scams that people are operating does.
And the astronomical profits the insurance companies make are the biggest factor.
