Securing the rear light clusters? Empty Securing the rear light clusters?

Post by Adamation Sun Sep 08, 2013 8:53 am

Having removed the rear light clusters to change bulbs. I noticed mine was glued and had one screw fixing it at the top. Since breaking the glue it's now only secured with the top screw. So it now rattles around. Am I missing something. Or do I just glue it back?

There should be a stud at the bottom of the light housing that slots in to a precut hole in the bodywork , like a keyhole shape , if not just find the locating hole on the light body and glue a fresh stud to it . Failing that there is a pair of rear light clusters on Ebay for £25 the pair . or contact High Jetted or Woody for new light .

Cheers

After removing the clumps of glue/mastik I can see the holes in the body work.

Sadly the light clusters don't have the stud. Hoping I can glue a makeshift stud that will fit securely. Failing that, as you suggested Eddie, will have to pick up a set.

What size/shape was the stud?

Just like a screw head , it needs to be able to pass from the hole to the grove to secure the head , I would guess 8 to 10 mm , wide .

Good luck

Does anyone happen to have a photo of the rear of the light cluster. Would like to try and "recreate" the plug with a screw or by gluing something on in it's place.
