Had this afternoon at home as someone was collecting an ebay purchase.

At the same time I promised my Hijet that before it turned 45,000 miles I would give it some loving.

This morning on my way home the mileage said 45,015 miles, so out of guilt I dropped in at the motor factors.

Got home, dropped the oil out of it, and removed the filter.

Then removed the sump, cleaned out all the bottom end of the engine, cleaned out the sump and the pick-up pipe. Also blew through the oil feed with compressed air.

Put it all back together, and filled it with some synthetic oil. Took it for a little run.

Now when you dip the oil you can barely see it on the dipstick, it's pretty much clear.

As I well fed up with looking through a smeary mess, I also scrubbed down the windscreen to proper clean standard, and replaced the wiper blades with a new pair and the obligatory inch bigger one on the driver side.

Think I will do the diff oil and the gearbox oil next time I'm not doing anything, and I think its due for front brake pads and rear tyres.

Have you replaced the gearbox oil yet? I cant find any info on what oil it needs from the manual (it doesnt even tell you the engine oil grade spec as far as i can see!)
