Breezy van!

Hi all

Just brought my van and loving it!

Got an issue with a really bad draft coming in.
Seems to be coming in through the front of the van. It's almost like its a blower on and gets worst when you get faster.

Having to drive with the heater on to keep warm at the moment which works a treat.

Also fuel gauge doesn't work? Guessing I need a new sender unit.

are the black covers that give you access to the head light bulbs in place?

and the the orange clips for the grill/cover if an old shape front.

Would be my guess too. And welcome.
The float falls off the sender fairly regularly

Headlight covers are the cause of cold feet! They are such a crap design. Even with the heaters on full your right foot gets a chill.

Sounds like the cause! Sating that though it feels like its coming from the centre of the van too

Is the heater set to the vents? Most Hijets only blow cold through the vents on the dash.

I posted a topic on fixing my sender unit (1.3 EFI) it's a bit fiddly undoing and redoing the plumbing to drop the tank but it's worth the effort - do it when the tank is nearly empty!
As for the chilly feet. Once the headlights pass the MOT test for alignment I carefully stuff old plastic bags in and around the gubbins behind the light unit as I can't be ar**d to drill and tap the bolt holes for the back panels. Might submit that fix to Bodgers Weekly !!!

You don't find the plastic bags melt when the lamps heat up? I just drilled a hole and used a self-tapper when one fixing sheared off.

I've found that although my covers are perfect and the singe screw fitting is in tact, they still flap down a bit at the top.

I currently have a water bottle with half of the air squeezed out of it, with the cap on, rammed between the brake booster and the top of the headlight back cover.

This makes the cover seal up loads better. Temporary fix on a long cold toed drive which has stayed permanent.

Ive found silicone works well, heres hoping my bulbs stay working.......
