Re: WANTED. 4x4 VAN
Good luck on the 4x4 hunt.
If you really really want one you will find one one day.
They are pretty thin on the ground.
You may have better crawling the import auctions

Here you go:-
http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/122796666/2006_DAIHATSU_Hijet_4WD.html
About £850, then about another £1000 to sail it here.

Re: WANTED. 4x4 VAN
Cheers.
The only downside to that is its a nightmare and + imports tax.

A 4 X 4 van
I have a fully functioning 4 wheel drive Hijet down here in Tasmania. It is a January 1983 model with original, and working, AM radio, working rear windor wiper and demister. I use it mostly for taking the dog to the beach for his daily run. Great little van and will go almost anywhere in 4 wheel drive mode.
It was looking a little lonely and forlorn sitting in the carport so I lashed out A$200 and bought it a playmate; a 1984 2 wheel driver trayback. Have just put the motor from a 1993 Charade into this one and it goes great. (Cost of motor A$580) Not such a tricky swapover and I was able to use the elctronic ignition from the Charade. Even better: this motoe runs on unleaded petrol. May make this a project car as the interior is very dismal. It has done it's first load work and passed with flying colours with a load of roofing sheet metal. Have had it up to 100 kmh but then ran out of downhill but a great addition to the family. Anyone else still running any of the vintage versions of these great little machines?

My aged Daihatsu Hijets
I used the 993 cc motor from a 1993 Daihatsu Charade. It all fits nicely with just a couple of parts off the old motor that have to be re-used. The old sump and old carby and inlet manifold had to go on as the Charde ones did not but I was able to use the electronic ignition off the Charade. My tray now has an old dog's bowel fixed to it as the distributor cap and leads produded above the level of the tray. It goes well with the new motor. Also put in new fan belt, water pump, timing belt, clutch plates and gaskets as needed. Just had a new skin made for the tailgate and hope to have it all back in place on the vehicle by next Tuesday. The treay was very badly trewated by the previous owner and pretty well worked to death. Fortunately very very little rust and only two small dents to have knocked out. Thinking of getting the sidesw of the tray sandblasted and then doing a bit of a respray as time goes by. Must now look to how I can load photos on here. Will do for both vehicles when I do the fathoming out.Logi wrote:Yeah, pics please!!
