So, picked up my new vehicle today and drove her home.

Will see if I can batch convert photos to put them up here.

Very pleased, I think I have got a pretty clean little motor!

A mixture of pics there.

The good

- drove nicely on way home, even with very strong winds
- stayed cool
- engine pulls much better than my previous Suzuki 1.3 Jimny

The bad

- Airbag light is on Sad Passed it's MOT earlier this week but has airbag light on ?!?! I thought this stuff had to all work to pass these days
- Exhaust has nasty repair on it that dealer agreed to fix. Called me today to say this section is actually the cat. He could get it done but would be some time next week. Agreed to take cost of cat off the price so I was happy with that, the repair could last for a good while yet

So plans . . .

Immediate

- oil filter, oil, air filter, coolant change, brake fluid, pads and discs up front, shoes on rear, plugs

I'll do this tomorrow if my local supplier can get the bits

- Cam belt next weekend if I have any skin left on knuckles

Medium term

- rust removal on arches and sills, repaint same colour

This isn't as bad as I thought it was, few photos show worse stuff on points under arches but then metal is thicker here and unlikely to be issue for a long time.

- remove carpets and make new using old as template
- wheels replace or repaint and new rubber (can't be that expensive can it?)

Long term

- rebolster and replace seat covers. I'd like leather seats and door cards. Have contacted specialist for rough costings but no reply yet. I was hoping for £300 ish for simple black leather, am I being unrealistic?

- false floor removal
- insulate and carpet rear
- minimal conversion for a bed
- tow bar

So what do I do about this airbag issue? Straight on phone to dealer?

Will keep doing pics. Happy man today Very Happy

Busy weekend!

Managed front discs and pads, rough brush of front suspension/steering arms and rust treatment, oil flush/change/filter, airfilter, spark plugs, clean and grease hinges, wheel clean.

Noticed the exhaust blowing this afternoon and what do ya know . . . the nasty exhaust repair has given way already! Hey ho, I did agree to the money off in lieu. Looks like back box will have to be replaced too. It's in good condition but where it meets the CAT it is very corroded and I suspect even if I could separate the two, I would never get a good seal onto new section.

The steel wheels are in fairly good nick. Have a mind to arrange shot blast and power coat. Can I get this for under £100?

So the vans not much use now until the exhaust is sorted, I don't want it falling off whilst driving and whacking another car.

Bit of web surfing tonight. Can see the CAT alone for £170. Do they really have to be type approved? £260 plus delivery from Ebay . . . surely can do better than that!
