Feeling left out

I was feeling a little left out with all you lot having pics of your bikes on here and with your vans etc. so today while I got to do a little sorting out with the YB I thought I would find out how it would fit in the van... Well none of that diagonal parking for me.

No what I need is some time and money to lay down some ply and lino then when dirty open boot and drive away quickly, Plus what you can't see is the length of kitchen work top and bits of cupboard that I clevely left out of shot

I fitted internal roof shelf, just about get a box 9in box on it with dog bowls and drier. Found it helpful to get couple of non slip mats from 99p shop.

That fits in perfectly, bet you had fun backing it up the ramp.
Looks like you've put some hours into that, especially the wheels, with the very shiny spokes.
That seat looks like it's carved out of wood?

Easily fits in the Transh*t though.

What you see in ours is three 6foot display meshes on the bars middle in a sleeping bag to reduce rattle and a couple of covers on top to stop them bouncing about.

It was a piece of cake up the ramp backwards bearing in mind it was in the back garden so to get it out ment lifting it over the back step, through the living room and dining room then lift it over the front step because it grounds out halfway and I have put away again in the garden.
As for shiny not really pics make it look good was better when the tank matched be fore I had paint issues and the seat is foam cut with an electric carving knife then shrink wraped in plastic it will get a cover once I get round to it.
Yes lots of hours in it so far but the wheels were fairly quick only a couple of hours and I did them at home instead of work just to prove I could do it with only the basic tools.

You'll never get the Rex in there, I struggled like hell to get my old GSXR into the Hijet.
Then I couldn't get it out again.

Though i may need to try, i'm going touring the Outer Heebijeebies At Easter and the ZRX is in my lockup, untaxed. And lately the
presence round here is phenomenal, b@*£%>s have done me twice for no seatbelt, so i don't fancy riding it round to my garage for a service before going(needs to be in March, don't want to tax it till April tho)

It has been made out that way but it is a easy thing to do the problem most people have is trying to copy rather than looking at it logically and when it's your day job it's just well just.... on saturday I made 240 spokes from blanks and built five wheels in four hours oh and served a customer but I have the tools for the job.

I always wanted to do that to my TTR, then it would stick to the road instead of sliding all over the place on knobblies.

How do you keep the plastics so white?
I used to wipe mine over with white spirit, then polish them up with Mer.
I've just bought a 1978 DT175 & the plastics are a bit yellowed, I've tried everything including UPVC cleaner, thinners & polishing compound.
Any ideas?

I've looked at them, minor bit of fiddling to fit them, BUT (and it's a big but ) i already have another set of TTR wheels, just need to get them respoked and then it's a direct swap, cos i still use it off road

It would look great with purple supermoto rims & decent rubber.
The handling on road would be transformed.

Can do cadbury purple but have no pics of that colour will show some other combos tomorrow as all pics are at work.

This is the choice of coloured nipps.
Black chrome spokes and plain stainless with black and silver nipps with orange rim.
Gold and chrome.
Black and gold.
Black chrome spokes, red nipps and black chrome rim.
Same again but full wheel in the sun.

Per wheel, all prices inc vat based on 3.5" front and 4.25" rear (120 front - 140 rear tire) with out checking the spec for your bike it may be a build in plain or butted spokes.
£290 is polished alloy rim stainless butted spokes, nickle plated brass nipples built and trued.
£280 is polished alloy rim stainless spokes, nickle plated brass nipples built and trued.
+£35 for rim anodising (custom colours like purple colour sample recommended)
+£45 for black chroming of spokes
+£15 for coloured nipps (only come in 8 or 9 gauge)
+£50 for hub strip, bead blast and respray (have got a couple of metallic purples on the shelf)
Shipping for a pair of wheels is £18
Total for pair = £878 to £888
Build and true cost is £50 so if you just want the bits then deduct that from total, we also sell professional spoke keys (as we use) for £15 each (2 set sizes available).

1 paint hub if required your self.
2 count spokes and find rim with correct number of holes on a hub a similar size to what you have.
3 make sure spokes hole angles match rims can be drilled several different ways look at four spokes pair on side you are on and pair behind, pair behind are to the left or the right make sure these match or lacing becomes difficult and spokes will need to be made to suit but will need to come to me.
4 use two old spokes with the nipples on and heads cut off push into new rim and offer up to hub if not pointing directly at the holes in hub tweek the hole round with a drill bit as you drill over size to take larger nipple (9mm needed)
5 polish rim with wet and dry to remove old anodising then polish and take to local anodising firm and get done as colour required or clean rims and take to local powder coater and ask for cold prep coating or it will cause probs later.
6 order spokes from me (but may need rims and hubs to get correct sizes as don't have TTR hubs speced for SM)
7 take your time to lace wheel ask me for pointers at time

Well the rim is drilled the correct way round but the rear hub is much wider to take the black nipples you would need to drill out to 9mm and you can pull the drilling round a bit while taking the hole size up but may need a "cut" we use a long nosed counterbore bit to modify the back of the rim to the right angle it should go but I would check it first before I did any mods a build is £175 with plain gauge black spokes and nipples plus shipping we don't charge for drilling and cutting.
