I have sold my two remaining Romahome Bodies.
Well, almost the end of an Era. I sold my last Romahome body - a Mk5 one, to a friend on Saturday 26th January. He had a month ago bought the other body from me - the one that was on my 2004 Dual Fuel Pick-Up and had been my Avatar for several years now.
So as its now gone so has the Avatar. Changed it back to me playing Show-Off with a COMPLETE 1600 DAIHATSU GRAND MOVE ENGINE. No wonder I suffer from Back-ache.
Still it was just one of those things that had to be done. A customer had been told about my engine charging tricks by hand and didn't believe it so I was challenged to show him that it was still possible for me to do.
Should have said give me £25 and I will show you. Crumbs I used to change Ford V6 engines by hand and a 1600 Ford Crossflow engine I could pull out of an Escort or Cortina or Capri with one hand. The same went for the 2000 OHC Pinto engine fitted to the same vehicles. Utterly ridiculous but never had problems with customers funnily enough. Fortunately I have lived on that reputation most of my life. Been quite handy really.
But Arthritis everywhere now - a family Inheritance unfortunately stops me doing so much of what I used to do. Except Walking that I have taken up last August.
But January with this damn Triple C (Cough, Cold and Catargh) it has stopped me getting out for my regular 4 miles early morning walks until Friday 25th and again on Saturday 26th. But in the afternoon when we were transferring the Mk5 Body from one of my Pick-ups to my friends pick up. I slipped on the wet Pick-Up bed and fell backwards off the truck and landed on my left hip-bone and Bum Cheek and Arm. I was totally winded and couldn't move.
Mark and his friend got me up and I sat down - but oh the pain!! After they finished the swop over I managed to drive home and went to bed Saturday afternoon and Sunday and Monday. I couldn't walk on the leg for several days and yesterday was the first time out of the house. A walk of 400 metres to the Pharmacy and back. I tried it again this morning and still very painful.
Just got to remember that I don't bounce so well these days and injuries take so much longer to get better. Not going out of my house or Man Cave for good few days yet. I still can't drive as using the leg for the clutch is Purgatory. Oh well just resolved to pottering
about until next week I guess. The curse of Old Age I guess.

Crumbs, knew you could change the engines without a hoist but charging it by hand! Now that a talent! Electric personality?

Goddammit you cunt, stop trying to kill yourself! We need you until science can put your brain in an artificial intelligence box oracle thing... What did the doc say? Broken bones? Or quit being a pussy?
Re: I have sold my two remaining Romahome Bodies.
I didn't go to the Doctors or Hospital. I just went home to bed to rest up as walking was very painful and is still pretty uncomfortable.
And kindly refrain from describing me as part of a woman's anatomy. It is totally unacceptable and uncalled for Lex. Learn some manners boy. There are a lot of women that are members of this Forum and I would imagine that they would not like to be reading your unnecessary bad language.

Get it checked out, it'll only get more expensive and more painful if there's something proper fucked and you keep being a stubborn old lady part.
-edit- I'm serious, get it checked out. You're not the first getting thrombosis or an embolism from these kinds of mishaps.

Re: I have sold my two remaining Romahome Bodies.
Last time I was in A&E was October 2016 due to the Tick bite as you probably remember. I was in Hospital for 10 days with ScepcisCellulitis and on the 6th day was told that they may well have to amputate my lower left leg. So I am certainly no Cissy Lex.
GEORDIE and Buttondup - thank you very much for your kind words. Most appreciated. I still haven't driven yet but slowly on the mend.
I got out for my first walk this afternoon - of about half a mile. Hip is aching a bit as is my bum but not having had a walk for nearly 2 weeks it's hardly surprising......

How long was the wait between the bite and the doctor?
-edit- You're probably offending the man-loving male visitors with the term sissy.

Re: I have sold my two remaining Romahome Bodies.
A few days after something bit me and I hadn't a clue what it was the following Monday afternoon I felt absolutely fine at 2pm but by 3pm I was feeling very hot but shivering badly - so much so that my body was shaking and my teeth were actually chattering together. That night I had a very high fever and all bed clothes and pillow were soaked. Same again the next night so Wednesday afternoon I went to see the Doctor and he said that it was "probably" a bad virus and it would pass. I wasn't given any medication.
10 days went by and it gradually lessened then for about a week I felt reasonably well. Then the following Friday morning awoke with the terrible fever again and with round red marks on my lower left leg. It got worse over the weekend and by Sunday lunchtime was absolutely bright red and very uncomfortable and hot to the touch, so we went to the Hospital and waited 3 hours before I was seen. I was prescribed 250mg Capsules of Fluoxacillin. But the following day it was far worse. So phoned my Doctor and got an emergency appointment with him at 5pm. He took one look at it and IMMEDIATELY picked up the phone and called the Chief Registrar at St. Mary's Hospital with all the information. We went straight up there - already booked in - and waited for 4 hours before I was seen. The Doctor who examined me told me that I had got Scepcis and it was serious. He explained that my leg would be covered in blisters and they would be painful so with his honesty I knew what to expect. But I wasn't prepared for what happened over the following weeks and months.
So I was admitted to the hospital but spent the whole night on one of their " Shopping Trolleys in the Accident and Emergency Ward and eventually at 11am was finally given a bed. They couldn't get me into the Assessment Ward until 7pm - having been there in the Hospital for over 24 hours.
I was put on an Intravenous Drip into my left arm of Fluoxacillin and spent 10 days in there. As I have mentioned on the 6th day the Doctor who was dealing with my case warned me that if it didn't improve within the next 12 to 24 hours they would have to remove my lower leg. The whole leg was covered in hundreds of yellow liquid filled blisters. It was absolute agony hopping to the loo and shower but had to keep the blisters and scabbing dry.
I was in there for 10 days and spent over a month in bed at home with the end of my bed raised 30cms off the floor. It was a tough time.
My Doctors wife ( I was for a couple of years my Doctors Handyman at their beautiful house) told me that it was not just Scepcis but it was ScepcisCellulitis and I was very lucky to have come, through it as the Scepcis could have killed me. It has caused several other problems including Peripheral Neuropathy. So I am on 11 different medication taking 2 of them twice a day. I rattle when I walk after taking the tablets in the morning and evening. But I still have my sense of humour Lex - as Ascerbic as it is.

Sorry you still out of action. I'm guessing you are feeling very frustrated. Magnesium oil spray eases the mucels. Take the rest you need. Wishing you well. You will soon be back out there. Spring us just around the corner.Woodie wrote:I didn't go to the Doctors or Hospital. I just went home to bed to rest up as walking was very painful and is still pretty uncomfortable.

You sure do, our forum rattle snake! You sure are a lucky mf. It would be so fucking ironic if you killed yourself. Like every thing in the world tried to kill you, and didn't succeed, but you managed to do it! So even though you seem indestructible, please don't kill yourself unintentionally...
Re: I have sold my two remaining Romahome Bodies.
Thank you for your best wishes Buttondup and Geordie and Buffy too. And cheers Oldie for your support this evening with Niggling Nangle Dangle. Much appreciated.
I am definitely on the mend now. I am off out tomorrow morning/this morning at 6am for my usual 4 mile Walks again. I got out yesterday and the hip is a fair bit better. Took some beautiful sunrise pictures and videos. Buffy is going to use one of the photos for the Screen Saver on her Computer. No, not the pictures in the Tunnel - the Sunrise ones.
