If anyone is interested, this is a ELM OBD2 wifi unit connected to a really crap phone running DashCmd.
It calculates I get 48mpg but the "real world" figures are more like 37. But the speed, temp and rpm are accurate

if you have an efi engine, the data lines must be there somewhere. It's a fairly basic system, from what I can see looking at the pinout

Did think about something like that and picking up what inputs/outputs there are from the ECU. Do you have any info. I have the pin outs for the 1.3 ECU but not the 993.
