Be careful with telling us what you expected, it tells us a lot about your girlfriend!

Re: Look at what my girlfriend bought me!
Did she sell the Mini that she won in the lottery or keep it and sell her car?
I had it in my mind that it was a 4x4 Pickup that you were wanting. But I realise now that a Mitsubishi L300 isn't a 4x4 Crew Cab Pick Up.
So you got what you wanted then. Lucky man. Will a Hi-Jet Pickup fit in the back of it?

She's the best I came across yet . It's very unlikely that there's a better one out there, so she's pretty safe.
She is selling the Mini she won (not yet sold!), she likes her 1995 Micra a lot more even though she thinks it's ugly. And it's way cheaper to maintain... She wants to go on a trip with this 4x4: http://www.balticrally.nl/bsc-home-en.html But I'm not sure yet, first get it all up and running and build up confidence! Always an adventure when you buy a new car...
It's a windowed van. And it's really pretty! I don't think it'll fit, there's a large diesel tank in the back just to feed the Webasto heater. Maybe it'll fit on top with the proper roof rack? I had to pull it with the Hijet the last 50 meters because the battery was dead! That Hijet is a damn strong one! It didn't even flinch when I had to pull it up a ramp...

I towed my 2-8 Mk 2 Granada 12 miles to my garage from Newport with my S registered Pickup and didn't even get remotely hot. It was brilliant that truck.
My very first Hi-Jet and I covered over 50,000 miles in it in 12 years.

That's the one with the more flattened nose. Looks a lot more like the Hijets. Jammer van dat tuinhuis achterop!
How did you know what I bought her?!

Neat - just like a Hijet MPV - 2 sunroofs! Reckon you need a few more bits on your dashboard though.

Yeah, the dash needs a few radios and perhaps a few potted plants....
Again with a garden shed on the back! What is it with those people that want to carry around a house?
Anyway, I already fixed a few things, only big things that need to be done now are fluids, cam belt(s) and the right front brake is sticking... Should I repair it or buy new brakes. They're not too expensive. Maybe take it apart first.

Nice wintertime project. Bit concerned about the Dexion Angle Shelving Roll Cage though.

If I only had the time for a project... The workshop just got finished, fortunately...
Not sure what to do about the scaffolding, it looks pretty handy for trips when you fit a tent to the roof rack. But it is not so handy if I decide to use a mattress in the van. There's a big diesel tank in the back for the heater that can't be removed. Of course everything can be removed, but it can get quite cold in the Moroccan desert or the North Cape.

Geography wasn't my best Subject at School. I hadn't realised that the Moroccan Desert was in the Netherlands or are you talking about an Ice Cream pudding??

The van has wheels. It can be rolled out of this country and into another with the help of some petrol!

Re: Look at what my girlfriend bought me!
There is quite some stuff wrong with the L300, but I'm still confident it will be running smoothly when I'm done with it.
Yesterday it passed MOT, but it now needs a huge tinkering on the carb and I don't have the appropriate CO meter stuff. The old spark plugs were covered in black powder and it drops in RPM when idle, making it stop every time you take your foot off the gas.
Done so far: new brake calipers and pads, new fuel tank, new V belts, put back the original air intake stuff, new spark plugs, changed the oil, added a mobile radio... I'm probably forgetting a lot, but it was one hell of a ride. Every step I took was two or three steps back. I guess that is what they call having fun with old cars...
