I've done a bit of painting of bodywork, but forgot to take pictures, and now it's covered in mud again! Hopeflully it won't need much doing for the coming MOT (I will need to source an exhaust as I don't think the dog food can fixes will suffice for an MOT)
... Wonder where I put the pictures of that fun job?

The porthole widow turned up, not sure if the plastic is uv tolerant but time will tell, as you can see the depth could be shrunk by cutting with say a small grinding wheel on a little drill to make it fit the thin panel, I'm going to cut some scrap ply/mdf for now.
Going to put this one in the back panel and then maybe get a rectangle one for the sliding door.

I think they look nice and will definitely be great for leaving the windo open a bit when the dogs are in there and it's raining, but they are a bit noisy when driving!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and new year.

So, where did that year go?! Van is in the garage getting a few bits fixed for the mot , wasn't too bad but probably a good job it was due . indicator light, wiper blade, rear tyre split on the inside wall and break pipe corroded... This burst when the break test was done Shocked so, thankfully I hadn't needed to do any emergency stops recently else it could have been messy. ... Should all be easy fixes .... Except the fuel tank need to to be removed to get to the break pipe .... And then they seem to be having problems bleeding the system Rolling Eyes I'm sure it will be sorted soon ... I hope  Very Happy
I'm in a much better position financially and health wise this year. And still thankfull all the help I received last year

In the mean time I bought the weenybago a Christmas present, some fabric to insulate the inside with with, this apparently has a layer of insulation in the middle , who knows if that's true but it's got to be better than bare metal on the inside.
I bought some carpet tape to stick it to the sides, no idea if thats the best way to do it or not but figured I try it on one panel first and see how it goes.

Oh, and I seem to have misplaced the clips for the other wind deflector, I don't suppose anyone knows if these can be purchased separately anywhere?

No idea about the clips, mine dont use clips, just fit snuggly in. Be better using high temp glue for the insulation as when the skin of the van vets hot it would affect the adhesive of the tape and it may just sag or drop off.

Unfortunately the Brake Pipes above the petrol tank seem to like hibernating there and allowing the dreaded Tinworm to infest them. It is bit of a pig of a job to replace the pipes as you have rightly said, the petrol tank has to come off. Which involves the fuel and vacuum pipes, the wires etc and usually one or two of the Setbolts snap off and have to be drilled out. Shaping and making up the Brake pipes(or in your case, literally the BREAK PIPE) can be fun even with the right tools to hand.

The rear Brake bleeding needs to be done with the Lever Arm on the LSPV tied in the up position, to the underside of the floor so that it is fully open to facilitate the bleeding of the rear axle. If your garage haven't done that and they are still having problems then TACTFULLY ask them if they have bled the rear axle with the valve with the arm held in the fully up position.

Your on the road again - as the song goes. I expect all of us feel the same way about summer. I have been up on 3 different flat roofs today and got caught in a heavy downpour 4 floors up right on Cowes front. Not my idea of fun I must admit.

How long has Weenybago been off the road for??

Ignore this post if you know better - but my experience is if you are handpainting - brush or roller - the best paint to use (less than £15 a litre) is tractor paint either Kramp or Teamar - the drying time is good on an april day about 2 hours touch dry and second coat the van was drivable next day. Being for tractors it is formulated for both metal and fibreglass, to be applied either (sprayed, rollered or brushed) and pretty tough We use roller and brush for fiddly bits mask up as if for spraying.

Don't know about those, but Tractol tractor paint is pretty good, but contains isocyanate, which will give you a really sore head, or kill you Wink

It was a by product of Tin Mining, but more arsenic was produced than tin. Somr "by product"! As late as 1940s it was wheeled around in open wheel-barrows the only health and safety a rag tied "bandit style" over the nose and mouth.
A lot of ground near old mines is still arsenic contaminated. ne of the early 20th c mines East Pool - a NT property has the white letters EPAL down the chimny stack EAST POOL ARSENIC LIMTED
Cornwall may be the best place in the world but the scenery is in part derelict industrial.
