Daihatsu Hijet 1.3 EFI
Hi, I'm selling my van - There are good and bad points! the good outweighs the bad
Bad points first.
- Failed MOT on the following:
001 Exhaust Emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd idle excessive.
002 Reg plate lamp nor working.
003 Headlamp aim too low nearside.
004 Headlamp aim too low offside.
005 Leaf spring fractured offside rear ( at mounting eye )
as you can see 3 of the above costs around 69p and 10 mins - the rest is a little more tedious. The MOT test centre assured me a cat converter would sort emissions. £60-80 quoted. The leaf spring can be bought from a salvage yard I'm sure. ( Woody )
The Van uses some oil - around 1 - 2 litres a month but I was using the van as a daily driver covering 1200 miles a month.
Now for the Good points.
- Engine is good and cooling system runs perfectly.
- Head Gasket replaced and head skimmed.
- All hose clips replaced.
- thermostat replaced.
- Timing belt replaced.
- Radiator replaced and rad caps.
All above work carried out by Matt - van hasn't missed a beat since.
More recent work carried out before MOT.
- Spark plugs replaced.
- Diff oil changed.
- Gear box oil changed.
- Engine oil and filter changed.
- Fuel tank removed to fix fuel gauge and replaced.
- Rear brake lines replaced.
All wheel arches have been re-worked and are now solid and protected, General paint work is OK with no major rust problems or dents.
All doors and door locks work with plenty of spare keys.
I have spent a good chunk of money since taking ownership of the van around £2000 - I did this with my eyes open and don't expect any of that back!
I would like sensible offers around £800. Viewings are most welcome at weekdays after 6pm and weekends with plenty of notice.
Van has covered 67600 miles.

1 running rich - might need a pre cat lambda sensor
2 bulb or broken wires
3 press the button to adjust them up, and if that doesn't work adjust them manually
4 same as above
5 put a leaf spring on it, I have a couple kicking about for £25 posted
THIS IS A VERY NICE HIJET!!!! If you want a nice hijet, buy this one.
If this was closer I would have it in a blink.

That is a lovely tidy van. Very unusual to see a red one in such good condition. I have got a 51 plate Island reg, one owner from new and I gave it a good mopping all over , but it is certainly not as tidy as yours.
Mind you I did only pay £200 for it as the LPG wasn't working but it was just a dirty fuse connection on the LPG ECU.
