Woah an old one, that might be quite some task to find one.

Can you take some photos of the top mounting under the drivers seat?

And the back of it where it bolts on to the hub?

Try an auto accessory shop.

When I wanted to replace my shock absorbers a few years ago the only ones listed in the accessory shop catalogues were for the older model, which I think is the 1989 one. (S84). If you can get them that way they will probably be cheaper than going through Daihatsu.

For the S85 the only way is through Daihatsu / Piaggio.

As its the later shape, we have used shocks galore!!

Finding new is a bit tough.

If you would be happy with a second hand one, I'd send you a complete strut with spring and top mount all in one piece ready to swap over.

You will find my contact details here:-

http://www.daihatsuhijet.co.uk/used-hijet-spares-and-parts-from-breakers/

and I can get one sent out on mondays UPS collection so will arrive on tuesday.

I want just £20 for the strut complete, and UPS 24 postage is £10.

I take paypal, bank transfers, cheque and postal orders.

And you can either PM me, or email via the website above for my payment details.

All the best,

Matt

Yes, I've looked at them now..

https://s1134.photobucket.com/user/myblue3/media/temporary_zpsdb09bb12.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2

This is different from everything I have in stock.

The hub is different, and it looks like the bottom of the shock, to how it mounts to the hub is different.

Sorry I cannot help you there.

No, fraid not - All the later hijets have disks and callipers.

But you might be able to change the whole lot over!!

I had a girl contact me from Northern Ireland, she couldn't get any drums for the rear of her van the same age as your. I think she ended up switching the whole rear axle over to the later type just to keep it on the road.

You have drums at the front? Not an S85 then... What series is it, from the VIN No on V5 or chassis?

Thought I would add an update in case anyone else has this issue.

I ordered what I was told was the correct shock for the van and turned out to be the later one from a 1996 van, however on examination it turns out the main body of the shock was almost identical , so cut off the brackets that bolt it to the hub, took it down to a local engineer, they cut off the hub and milled it out, then welded the new shock into the casting, job done.

Total cost used shock £22 posted, milling £20 welding £10, all in £52 plus my time sorted.

Many thanks to all who offered assistance.
