Hi there, I'm new to this forum as i have just collected a Hijet yesterday (i say collected because it was on a trailer). It was going cheap so i couldn't resist but its after a few things and i was wondering if anyone could help me out. Its a s reg Hijet MPV 1.0
I'm after a rear axle, both rear door handles and possibly a tailgate/rear window. Basically the window broke and the old owner put a piece of ply on the inside and the outside and bolted them together then painted a rainbow effect on it lol.
I am in the East Sussex area but am willing to travel some distance otherwise may look down the route of courier.
Many Thanks,
Chris

Yes I can help you with all of that if you wish. I have an axle that has only done 9000 miles. However it is off a 1300. The 1300 axle ratio is 4.444 and your one is 4.875 so if you fitted it your speedo would read 10% slow so with your speedo reading 27mph you would be doing thirty , reading 36 you would be doing 40, reading 45 you would be doing 50 and so on. ( all figures approx give or take a gnats whisker.) One very easy way to correct this would be to fit a pair of 155/60/12 tyres to the rear axle as the rolling circumference is around 10% less than the 155/70/12 tyre thus bringing it back very close to the original 1000 axle ratio thus correcting you speedo.

It is off the vehicle and so are door handles and rear window glass but I doubt if the HRWindow works. As the axle is such low mileage and I paid £600 for the whole vehicle some time ago I would need to get £125 for it but I will give you the two handles and rear window included in the price.

I am coming over from the Isle of Wight on an early ferry this Sunday morning so if you want these items I could bring them over and you meet me at Red Funnel Ferry terminal in Southampton.
I will need to know early in the morning as I have a lot to do and load up the van ready to depart 545am Sunday morning.

All the best Woody.

PLEASE phone me Chris if you would like these. AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. Email I wont get till tonight when it will be TOO LATE. Thank you. 07970 391876.

Chris. I have loaded the axle and the window in my van just in case you do get hold of me later tonight or tomorrow. It always pays to check your emails regularly particularly when you have posted a " Wanted " ad. sunny

I am going up to Checkendon near Reading for the day and should be getting there around 10 am but phone signal is poor there so if you cant get an answer text me as they sometimes get through when a call wont.

I will be leaving around 5pm to go to my sons in Southampton for around 7pm and leaving for the ferry around 9-30pm.
So you have 2 chances to meet me tomorrow providing you have checked your emails. Woody.

As the 1L speedos read about 10% fast this should correct it Smile

7-15am Sunday. Am on the Red Funnel Ferry Chris and have just found your message.
I was going to load up with all the bits at lunchtime but hadnt heard from you so took a chance and drove the 12 mile journey to my workshop and extracated the axle. I thought you might need a rubber with the glass too. I took a window and rubber out of a door and picked up a couple of door handles too.
Then went back home and waited till 7pm for a reply. I couldnt wait any longer so removed your bits and loaded all the parts I had to take with me on the trip---- a Ford Zetec engine, 3 Mondeo Gearboxes and a load of rare Skoda and Fiat spares so in one way was glad not to have the extra axle and bits on the journey.

As regards the glass I would never risk sending that and I was only going to let you have the door handles as a gesture. I have a list of " Dont Sell Them" because I run 3 Hi-Jets myself and have 10 for sale or being prepared for sale and door handles, mirrors. bumpers, van rear light etc are on the list.

The only exceptions I am prepared to make in breaking my self-imposed rule would be for members of the Forum who are very regular contributors who are ALWAYS there for other members with help and advice and parts such as HJ. Rich The Mechanic. Leopard Pagan, Dear Ole Logi and many more of the top 20 Posters.

I am still a " Babe in Arms " yet on the Forum but already have seen many come on here to " Sell Themselves " or just to buy bits and then you never see them again. I have been told that it happens a lot.

I know that anyone is welcome to ask for advice and will get a great response from the very kind members we have on the Forum.

There are several links to Breakers on here particularly Emma and HJ's mate Dave so please give them a try.

I have been a breaker for 33 years but have only recently decided to Specialise in Hi-Jets so havent got a massive stock of bits yet.

Prove yourself on here by REGULAR posts and I know you will get maximum help and respect.

Untill then Chris I feel I must look after my needs first-- then our Lovely Regulars. Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh but my loyalty MUST be to the regulars first . Regards Woody.
